Integrated pest management for fruit borers
- Grow resistant cultivars like AE 57, PMS 8, Parkins Long green, PKX 9275, Karnual Special
- Collect and destroy infested shoots, buds, flowers and fruits.
- Remove the alternate hosts like Hibiscus cannabinus, H. abelmoschus and Abutilon indicum in the cropped area.
- Set up pheromone trap @ 12 / ha.
- Collect and destroy affected fruits.
- Release egg parasitoid, Trichogramma chilonis @ 1.0 lakh / ha.
- Release 1st instar larvae of green lace wing predator Chrysoperla carnea @ 10,000/ha.
- Release Chelonus blackburnii and Bracon brevicornis at 1000 adult each /ha at fortnight interval thrice from flower initiation
- Spray Bacillus thuringiensis @ 2 g/l or spray any one of the following insecticides:
